Who we are

Sal & Shelly's Seaside Adventure is a small independent business based in Margate, Kent, run as a sole trader. We are the data controller for the information described here.

This policy explains what we do with your personal information and sets out your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

• Your name, email address and phone number when you place an order.
• Your delivery or collection details, including your address if your kit is being posted.
• Your order details and order number.
• Any photos you send us for the Explorer Gallery, and the message you send them with. We only accept photos of decorated boxes and beach crafts, never photos of children.
• Anything you tell us when you email, call or message us.

We don't see or store your card details. Payments are handled by Mollie through their own secure checkout, under their own privacy policy.

Why we use it, and on what basis

• To fulfil your order. Taking payment, getting your kit to you, sending your order number and collection details, and answering questions about your order. Basis: performance of a contract with you.
• To sort out problems. Refunds, replacements and anything that goes wrong. Basis: performance of a contract, and our legal obligations.
• To keep our accounts. Records of sales for tax purposes. Basis: legal obligation.
• To show photos in the Explorer Gallery. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To send you updates, if you've asked for them. Basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information to anyone, ever. We share it only with the services we need to run the business:

• Our website and order form providers, which hold order details.
• Mollie, our payment provider, which processes your payment.
• Royal Mail, for the address on posted orders.
• Our email provider, for messages between us.

We may also share information where the law requires it.

Explorer Gallery photos

The Explorer Gallery is for photos of decorated boxes and beach crafts only. Please don't send us photos with children in them. If a photo arrives with a child in it we'll delete it rather than publish it, and we'll let you know.

We keep it this way on purpose. It means we're not holding photographs of anybody's children, which is the safest arrangement for everyone.

We don't publish names, ages or locations alongside gallery photos, and we never pass them to third parties. Ask us to take a photo down and we'll do it, no reason needed.

How long we keep it

• Order and payment records: 6 years, which is what tax rules require.
• Emails and messages: up to 2 years, unless they relate to an order.
• Explorer Gallery photos: until you ask us to remove them.
• Mailing list details: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Have anything inaccurate corrected.
• Ask us to delete it, where we don't need it for a legal reason.
• Ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it.
• Ask for it in a portable format, or sent to someone else.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on.

Email us and we'll respond within one month. There's no charge.

Cookies

This website uses cookies to keep it working properly and to understand how it's being used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
